Greek side PAOK Thessaloniki FC will host Swiss giants FC Basel in the first leg of the second-round of Champions League qualifiers at Toumba Stadium on Tuesday. The winner of this two-legged tie will advance to the playoffs in August.
PAOK finished second in the Greece Superleague last season and directly qualified for the second qualifying round. Basel also find themselves in this round after finishing second behind Young Boys in the Swiss League last season. Basel have failed to win their league for the first time in nine years. Thus, they find themselves in an unfamiliar territory in qualifiers.
